UPSTREAM 2026 Will Mark 25 Years of Catholic Missionary Discipleship

October 7, 2026

UPSTREAM 2026 will celebrate Jesus Youth USA’s 25th jubilee December 29 through January 2 at Ridgecrest Conference Center in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Adults, teens, children, families, and ministry teams will gather for prayer, fellowship, missionary formation, and age-specific tracks designed to help participants encounter Christ and return home ready to serve the Church’s mission.

Catholic Missionary Discipleship and Jubilee Renewal

UPSTREAM 2026 is a national jubilee gathering marking 25 years of Jesus Youth in the United States and calling the movement into renewed missionary discipleship. The conference runs from December 29, 2026, through January 2, 2027, at Ridgecrest Conference Center, 1 Ridgecrest Drive, Black Mountain, North Carolina. Jesus Youth USA describes the event as a time to encounter Christ, give thanks, renew fellowship, and be sent forth in mission. That purpose reflects the organization’s identity as an international Catholic association focused on evangelizing young people, nurturing missionary initiatives, and serving the Church. The conference is intentionally multigenerational. Adults age 18 and older share a main missionary track, with additional breakouts shaped by life situations, ministry interests, and areas of mission. Dedicated tracks are planned for teens, middle-school students, and elementary children, while parent-supported babysitting is available for toddlers. The structure allows families and long-time movement members to participate together without assuming that every age group needs the same form of teaching. Check-in begins at 4:00 p.m. on December 29, and participants may check out on January 2. Registration and Ridgecrest lodging are handled separately, so attendees need to complete both steps. The official page also lists meal packages, room options, and travel guidance, including Asheville Regional Airport as the closest airport and a limited shuttle option from Charlotte Douglas International Airport. By placing prayer, formation, fellowship, and mission within a residential mountain setting, UPSTREAM creates space for sustained community, shared worship, and deep conversation rather than a single evening rally.

The jubilee theme gives UPSTREAM a purpose deeper than nostalgia. Christian anniversaries are most fruitful when gratitude for God’s past faithfulness becomes readiness for present obedience. Jesus Youth participants are invited to remember how the movement has formed missionaries and communities in America while asking how the same gospel calling should take shape in the next generation. Families can use the gathering to share testimony across age groups, help children see faith as a lived mission, and connect young adults with mentors who have persevered in discipleship. Ministry-based tracks and service opportunities in music, media, hospitality, intercession, formation, and logistics also reinforce that mission is not reserved for platform speakers. Every participant brings gifts that can serve the body of Christ. Practical preparation will improve the experience: families should review the separate registration and lodging requirements, estimate meal and room costs, note the October 15 early-registration deadline shown on the official page, and communicate accessibility needs in advance. Those flying should confirm transportation rather than assume a shuttle seat is guaranteed. Spiritually, attendees can prepare by praying through Luke 12:32, the event’s featured Scripture, and by naming one area in which they need renewed courage to follow Christ. The most valuable outcome will not be a temporary conference high but a concrete missionary practice carried home—a new rhythm of prayer, a commitment to evangelization, service in a parish ministry, accompaniment of a younger believer, or participation in a local outreach. UPSTREAM 2026 offers Jesus Youth members a national moment to come alive in their calling and move together toward the kingdom.
