The Jesus I Never Knew: Revealing What 2,000 Years of History Have Covered Up

The Jesus I Never Knew returns to the Gospel accounts with a willingness to question the tame or sentimental images of Jesus that culture and familiarity can create. Philip Yancey considers the world into which Jesus came, the people he unsettled, and the unexpected shape of his ministry.

Moving through the incarnation, temptation, kingdom teaching, miracles, death, resurrection, and ascension, Yancey blends historical context with personal reflection. The result invites readers to encounter Jesus as the Gospels present him rather than merely repeating assumptions inherited over time.
