1 Timothy 6:17 (NIV)

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

When the Market Crashed

Paul writes this instruction to Timothy, a young leader shepherding a growing church. He’s not condemning wealth—but warning that wealth makes a terrible foundation for hope. It’s unstable, unreliable, and fleeting. True confidence comes only from the God who richly provides, not from the riches themselves.

This verse challenges men—especially in a culture that idolizes success—to evaluate where their trust really lies. Are you leaning on the size of your bank account or the strength of your Provider? God doesn’t just supply what we need—He gives it for our enjoyment, but He must stay at the center.

Today’s reminder: Enjoy what God gives, but never let it replace the Giver.
