2 Timothy 2:3–4 (NIV)

Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.

Paul is writing this letter from prison to his spiritual son Timothy. It’s a charge to remain strong and focused—no matter the cost. Paul compares the Christian life to that of a soldier: committed, disciplined, and willing to suffer for a higher cause. A soldier doesn’t get distracted by civilian life—his eyes are fixed on orders from above.

This is a direct call to men today. We’re surrounded by distractions, temptations, and culture pulling us in every direction. But if you belong to Jesus, you’ve been enlisted. Your mission isn’t to blend in—it’s to stay sharp, endure hardship, and live to please the One who called you.

Today’s challenge: tighten your focus. You’re not just a man—you’re a soldier.
