Daniel 4:35 NLT
All the people of the earth are nothing compared to him. He does as he pleases among the angels of heaven and among the people of the earth. No one can stop him or say to him, “What do you mean by doing these things?”
Fear often grows when control feels lost. Plans fall apart. Systems fail. People disappoint. This declaration does not soften reality or minimize uncertainty. It cuts through it. God’s authority is not threatened by chaos, resistance, or human power. This truth steadies the man who realizes he was never meant to carry the weight of control in the first place.

These words are spoken by King Nebuchadnezzar after a period of divine judgment and restoration, recorded by Daniel during the Babylonian exile around the sixth century BC. Nebuchadnezzar was the most powerful ruler of his time, commanding armies, territory, and wealth unmatched in the ancient world. His downfall came not from political enemies, but from pride. God removed his authority temporarily to show him that power does not originate from human strength or position.
What is revealed here is God’s absolute sovereignty. He answers to no authority. His actions are not subject to approval or explanation. Heaven and earth move under His will without resistance. This statement dismantles the illusion that control belongs to those with influence, resources, or dominance. God’s rule is not reactive. It is established, unchallenged, and final.
This truth changes how fear is handled. Anxiety grows when outcomes feel uncertain and responsibility feels overwhelming. Recognizing that God governs both visible and unseen realms frees you from carrying burdens you were never designed to hold. Obedience replaces panic. Trust replaces obsession with control. Peace becomes possible even when circumstances remain unresolved.
A man sits alone after receiving news he cannot fix. Financial pressure. Medical uncertainty. A decision that no longer feels reversible. His mind races through scenarios that offer no solution. Gradually, his posture shifts. Shoulders lower. Breathing slows. Control releases its grip because he remembers it was never his to begin with.
This chapter records a ruler’s transformation from arrogance to humility. Reading it in full reveals how God dismantles false security and replaces fear with reverence rooted in truth.

Daniel 4:35 NLT
Resting Under God’s Authority
When fear rises because control feels lost and the future no longer feels predictable.
Lord, I acknowledge how often fear grows from my need to manage outcomes. When plans break down and certainty disappears, my instinct is to grasp tighter rather than trust deeper. This truth reminds me that You are not reacting to events. You are ruling over them. Help me release the weight of control I was never meant to carry.
Teach me to rest in Your authority rather than fear what I cannot predict. When my thoughts race and anxiety presses in, anchor me in the reality that nothing unfolds outside Your will. Strengthen my confidence in who You are, not in what I can secure. I want to walk forward with calm obedience, knowing You remain fully in control.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
