Michael Tait acknowledges past substance abuse and non-consensual behavior toward men, conflicting with his Christian ministry image. The music industry and faith community are grappling with the revelations, pulling support and demanding deeper accountability.

Christian music icon Michael Tait—long known for leadership roles in DC Talk and Newsboys—has publicly confessed to a "double life" involving drug and alcohol abuse and unwanted sexual advances toward men dating back to the early 2000s.

Tait had previously resigned from Newsboys in January 2025 and recently completed a six-week rehab program. He stated much of the reported behavior was “sadly, largely true.” This confession follows investigative reports from The Guardian describing how Tait allegedly lured young men, some underage, with career promises before assaulting them. Christian radio networks have pulled his music, and the controversy has ignited broader conversations about accountability and power abuse in the Christian celebrity sphere.
