The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

John’s words point to the temporary nature of worldly pursuits compared with the eternal promise of God. Wealth, success, and pleasure may dominate life for a time, but all of it eventually fades. What lasts is the will of God, and those who live aligned with His purposes gain life that endures beyond this world. This verse offers men a clear contrast between chasing what is fleeting and living for what is eternal.

For men today, the pressure to pursue status, possessions, or recognition can be overwhelming. These pursuits promise satisfaction but often leave men empty once the novelty fades. John reminds us that none of these desires can stand the test of time. Instead, men are called to seek God’s will, in their families, work, and personal character. Doing so requires courage to say no to worldly distractions and yes to obedience.

The reward is eternal. Living for God may not always bring immediate applause or comfort, but it produces fruit that outlasts this life. For the man who chooses God’s will over fleeting desires, there is both peace now and the assurance of forever with Him. This perspective empowers men to endure hardship, resist temptation, and stay focused on what truly matters.
