When Worrying Adds Nothing

In this verse, Jesus speaks directly to the human tendency to worry. This question comes from His teaching in the Sermon on the Mount, where He urges His followers to trust in God’s provision rather than being consumed with anxiety. Worry, Jesus reminds us, accomplishes nothing. It cannot change the past, it cannot control the future, and it cannot extend our lives by even a moment.
For men today, worry often takes the form of pressure, the weight of providing, protecting, and leading. Sleepless nights, racing thoughts, and fear of failure can become constant companions. Yet Jesus’ words cut through the noise: worry has no power. Instead, we are called to redirect that energy into trust. When we shift our focus from fear of “what if” to faith in “God will,” we begin to live with peace instead of pressure.
The practical takeaway is clear: surrender worry to God daily. Each anxious thought is an invitation to prayer, each burden a chance to lean on Christ. Men who learn this discipline discover that real strength is not in controlling every outcome, but in trusting the One who holds time, provision, and life itself in His hands.
