Anthony sat in the dark corner of his living room long after everyone had gone to bed. The house was silent, but his thoughts were loud. His mind raced with worry about things that hadn’t even happened yet.
He was tired, tired of pretending to be fine, tired of overthinking everything he said, tired of feeling like a burden. The weight of depression pressed down like an invisible chain, and every anxious thought tightened its grip.

One morning, while scrolling through his phone in a half-awake haze, he came across a verse shared by a friend: A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.
He read it again. The Lord delivers him from them all. The words stuck in his chest. He realized that God wasn’t ignoring his pain, He was promising deliverance through it.
Anthony had believed in God for years, but anxiety made him feel distant from that faith. Still, he couldn’t shake those words. They became a small light in the fog that covered his thoughts.
Later that week, he opened his Bible and read the verse aloud. It sounded different when spoken. It carried weight, authority, and truth that pushed back against the lies in his mind. He whispered through tears, “Lord, I can’t carry this anymore. Deliver me from this fear. Deliver me from myself.”
That prayer began a slow healing process. The panic attacks didn’t vanish overnight, but peace began to sneak into the cracks of his fear. Every time worry returned, he repeated the verse: The Lord delivers him from them all.

On days when depression tried to convince him that nothing would change, Anthony clung to that promise. God had not failed David when he wrote Psalm 34, and He would not fail him now.
He started journaling again, writing down moments when God showed up, a call from a friend, a sermon that spoke directly to his situation, or a quiet moment when anxiety lifted long enough to breathe.
Each of those moments was proof that God was working. The Lord was not just delivering him from external troubles but from the storms within his own mind.
Over time, Anthony began to speak openly about his struggles in his men’s group. To his surprise, several others nodded in silent understanding. He realized he wasn’t alone in the battle for peace.
They began praying together, holding each other accountable, and reminding one another that the Lord delivers him from them all, even when the fight feels endless. Anthony still faced anxious thoughts, but they no longer defined him. He was learning to replace fear with faith, and panic with prayer.
Now, when he feels overwhelmed, he opens his Bible and whispers Psalm 34:19–20 again. The Lord had delivered him before, and He would do it again.
His story is a reminder to every man facing invisible battles that the same God who delivered David still delivers today. No matter the weight of the struggle, the Lord delivers him from them all.
Where do you most need to remember that the Lord delivers you from them all?
Anxiety and fear
Financial worries
Family stress
Inner doubt and guilt
