Perfect Peace Through Trust. Isaiah 26:3

When Alex lost his job after 15 years of loyal service, the world went quiet. The title he wore with pride, the routine he trusted, the paycheck that paid for his kids’ futures—gone overnight. At first, he panicked. Bills were stacking up. His wife tried to stay positive, but he could see the worry behind her eyes. The silence at the dinner table spoke louder than their words.

When the plan crumbles, the silence gets louder.

Each morning, Alex sat at the kitchen table, staring at his coffee, mind racing. But one day, he opened his Bible, desperate for something—anything. His eyes landed on Isaiah 26:3: “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.”

He wrote it down on a sticky note and placed it on the fridge. It wasn’t instant relief, but it was a start. Each morning, he read it aloud. “Perfect peace,” he whispered, sometimes through clenched teeth. “Perfect peace through trust.” He repeated it like a battle cry against the anxiety waiting to ambush his thoughts.

Alex began to change—not because his situation did, but because his mindset did. Instead of obsessing over rejections and financial fear, he focused on what he could control: prayer, time with his kids, and leaning into his faith like never before.

He started helping at the church food pantry on Fridays. It wasn’t a job, but it gave him purpose. He began mentoring a younger man there who had also been laid off. They prayed together, encouraged each other, and laughed like old friends.

Weeks turned into months. Doors opened slowly. A friend from church connected him to a company that not only hired him, but offered more flexibility than his old job ever did. It wasn’t the same salary, but it came with peace—and that was worth more.

The storm didn’t stop—but his peace began.

Looking back, Alex now sees that the job loss wasn’t the end. It was the beginning of deeper faith. He still keeps that verse on his fridge, a reminder that peace isn’t found in circumstances—it’s found in trust.

And every time life feels shaky again, he returns to the same truth: perfect peace through trust. "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You."
