Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart. Proverbs 3:5–6

Jeremy had always taken pride in being the provider. A husband, father, and small business owner, he believed that if he worked hard enough, he could control his future. But when the housing market crashed, so did his Real Estate company—and with it, his identity.

Jeremy thought hard work guaranteed success—until the crash took everything he built.

He tried to stay afloat by taking on debt and side jobs, but stress mounted. Arguments with his wife turned into silence. Eventually, she left, taking their two kids with her. Jeremy sat alone in his empty apartment, surrounded by overdue bills and broken dreams.

One cold morning, he found a final notice taped to his door. His car had already been repossessed. That day, something broke inside him—not in anger, but in surrender. He collapsed to the floor, weeping. He whispered, “God, if You’re real, I can’t do this without You.”

Those words were the beginning of everything. He remembered the verse from Sunday school: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” That night, Jeremy decided to stop leaning on himself. He deleted the dating apps, stopped numbing the pain, and picked up his dusty Bible.

He started attending a men’s recovery group at a nearby church. At first, he said little. But one night, when the group leader asked who needed prayer, Jeremy raised his hand. “I don’t want money or things back,” he said. “I just want peace again.”

The first step toward healing wasn’t a paycheck—it was someone believing in him again.

A man named Charles approached him afterward. He had been through his own storm years earlier and offered Jeremy a job helping with odd repairs and church maintenance. “We’ll figure it out,” he said. It wasn’t glamorous work—but it gave Jeremy purpose again.

In the months that followed, Jeremy journaled every morning, prayed daily, and memorized Proverbs 3:5–6. As he leaned into God instead of his fears, opportunities opened. He reconnected with his kids, paid off some debt, and even led a devotion at the men’s group one night.

One Sunday, the pastor asked him to share his testimony. Jeremy stood at the pulpit and told the congregation: “I thought my life ended when I lost everything. But the truth is, that’s when God finally had all of me.”

His story hit home. Several men approached him afterward, saying they felt the same desperation but had never told anyone. That day, Jeremy realized: his pain wasn’t wasted. It had become a lifeline for someone else.

Now, Jeremy continues to serve the church full-time, counseling men who are on the verge of giving up. His message is simple and unwavering: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart. When you finally do, He’ll show you a path you never saw coming.”
