Immeasurably More Than We Ask: How God’s Power Transforms a Man’s Life

Michael was a man who prided himself on being in control. He had built his career with discipline, his family with care, and his life with precise planning. But when life unraveled, he discovered just how little control he really had.
It began with the loss of his job. One day, the steady paycheck he had relied on was gone. At the same time, medical bills from his wife’s illness piled up. He prayed, but his prayers felt small compared to the mountain before him.

Nights grew long as he lay awake, staring at the ceiling, trying to figure out solutions. His mind raced with strategies, but his heart felt empty. He whispered prayers that seemed too weak to reach heaven.
One evening, while reading Scripture, his eyes fell on Ephesians 3:20. The words struck him: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.” Michael realized he had been asking too little and trusting too little.
That night, he prayed differently. Instead of asking for specific solutions, he simply said, “God, I cannot carry this. Show me Your power. Do what I cannot imagine.” It was a prayer of surrender rather than strategy.
The days that followed were still hard, but Michael began to notice subtle shifts. A friend unexpectedly sent groceries. His wife’s strength began to improve. Doors for new job opportunities appeared in places he hadn’t thought to look.
Each moment was not an instant rescue, but piece by piece, God’s hand was evident. Michael realized God’s power was at work within him, not just around him. His faith grew in the cracks of his brokenness.
When his wife regained her health, Michael saw it not just as recovery but as God’s immeasurable mercy. Doctors had doubted her progress, but God did what they could not.

A new job offer came, one he never considered before, in a field that gave him more time with his family. The salary was less, but the peace and purpose were more than he imagined.
Michael began to speak openly about his journey. He told friends and coworkers how God had done more than he asked. Some rolled their eyes, but others leaned in, hungry for hope.
He realized his story wasn’t just about provision. It was about transformation. God had shifted him from relying on his own strength to resting in God’s limitless power.
Looking back, Michael confessed he had been blind to the ways God works. He thought only in terms of money, health, and control. But God gave him more, deeper faith, stronger family bonds, and a testimony that could point others to Jesus.
There were still days of struggle, but Michael now prayed with expectation. Not that life would be perfect, but that God would do immeasurably more than he could ever imagine.
His favorite words became, “according to his power that is at work within us.” He realized God’s power was not distant but alive inside him through the Spirit.
Michael’s testimony became a beacon. He would say, “Brothers, trust Him. God is not limited by what you see. He is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine, and His power is already at work within you.”
